'World Of Dance' Recap Ep. 2
Get up to date on who made it to the next round on episode two of World Of Dance.
"World of Dance" wrapped up the second of its four qualifiers on Tuesday night on NBC, showcasing a jaw-dropping amount of talented acts that each looked to advance to the show's duel round.
The contestants performed in one of three divisions, either as Juniors, Uppers, or Teams, as the judges skillfully assessed the competition. In order for the contestants to move on to the next round, they had to score at least 80 points.
First up, was The Lab, a group of inspiring, underprivileged kids from West Covina, California. Their high-energy performance garnered a standing ovation from all three judges and a combined score of 91, advancing them on to the next round.
After that was a highly anticipated performance by Fik-Shun, the winner of "So You Think You Can Dance" season 10. The pressure on the young dancer was palpable, but he did not disappoint. His emotional performance radiated throughout the audience and touched the hearts of the viewers, including the judges, who gave him a standing ovation and a score of 91, moving him on to the next round.
The Miami All-Stars followed with a high-energy Latin routine from their 19 dancers, but the group's vibrant costumes did not obscure the judges' ability to pick up on their novice mistakes. Despite having gotten some critical feedback, the team accrued just enough points to get it to the next round.
Up next was Luka and Jenalyn competing in the Uppers category out of Toronto, Canada. The couple's performance was fluid and dynamic, performing acrobatic tricks we've never quite seen before. They were impressive to say the least, and the judges agreed, moving them to the next round with a score of 87.
Quick Style, a hip-hop group out of Oslo, Norway, next competed in the Upper division. The trifecta is composed of twins and their close friend. Their performance was flawless, and their music choice was unique, dancing to the classic song "Jolene." Praised for its cleanliness and musicality, the group was sent to the next round with a score of 87.
Last but not least, Nick Daniels, a contemporary dancer from Miami danced a heart-wrenching number in honor of his dad, who passed away of cancer. The audition just happened to be on his dad's birthday. Daniels' ease of movement and insane flexibly could almost make you forget he has a skeletal system. His emotional performance touched the audience and the judges to the third standing ovation of the night and earned Daniels a score of 87, moving him on to the next round.
