Andre and Natalia Paramonov are two of the most talented yet humble and warmhearted people that you'll ever get the change to speak with. And we sat down to speak with them about their recent Blackpool win.
Andre and Natalie Paramonov are some of the most versatile dancers in the world today, and there seems to be no limit to what they can achieve. Though the vibrant and charismatic duo has only competed in American Style for a mere three years, last month they became the first-ever couple to win the British Open Blackpool Professional Rhythm Champions.
The Paramonovs will be looking to take first prize once again at the upcoming Millennium DanceSports Championships in Orlando, FL, which is streaming LIVE on FloDance on June 20-24.
Prior to their foray into American Style, Andre and Natalie dominated the world of International Latin dance. Some of the couple's past accomplishments include being named five-time Canadian National Professional Latin champions, four-time current US Professional National Latin ShowDance champions, Professional Latin Asia Pacific champions as well as World Professional Latin ShowDance champions.
After repeated requests from their students to instruct them in both International and American Style dancing, the Paramonovs decided to immerse themselves in the latter style to increase their proficiency and complement their teaching.
"Every time we would teach, our students wanted to know International Latin as well as American Rhythm styles, so it pushed us to learn American, and we thought, what better way to learn than to compete!" the Paramonovs said.
Andre and Natalie Paramonov represented the USA at the 2016 World Championships in Germany.
Andre and Natalie met at university and have been dancing together for most of their lives. Having accomplished so much as dancers and life partners, the pair is now on to their next adventure, owning and organizing their own competitions. The two are the proud new owners of not one but two dancesport competitions, accomplishing overnight a feat that usually takes prospective competition owner's months or years to achieve.
"The whole idea (to buy these competitions) got formulated within hours, and people usually start with one, not two competitions," the Paramonovs said. "But it all happened so easily that we thought, it must be a sign from above."
Their first event, Elite Dancesport, is being held in Irvine, California, on October 13-15 and will be followed early next year by the Nashville Starz Dancesport Spectacular in Nashville, Tennessee, on January 11-14.
Their vision for the Elite Dancesport competition is to create a weekend escape in which participants can find reprieve from life's day-to-day stresses through a bliss-filled weekend of VIP surprises, workshops, and fantastic shows featuring the superstars of the dance world. Although the Paramonovs are expanding their wheelhouse of responsibilities, they have no plans to stop dancing.
"Becoming organizers has actually made us enjoy dancing that much more," they said.
In addition to dancing together, the couple will also be dancing with five of their students in the Pro/Am category at the fast-approaching Millennium DanceSport Competition.
You can catch the entire event streaming LIVE on FloDance from June 20-24.
