Indie ballet movie "On Pointe" has released the first trailer for its crowdfunded film starring award-winning ballerina Juliet Doherty. In the movie, Doherty plays the role of Paige, a teenage girl preparing for the biggest audition of her life in the midst of her parents divorce.
Doherty previously portrayed Ondine Gigot in the Broadway musical "Little Dancer" and is well known in the ballet circuit for her 2012 gold medal wins at the 2012 and 2014 Youth America Grand Prix.

Written and directed by Tati Vogt, "On Pointe" got its start via Kickstarter after exceeding its crowdfunding goal of $15,000 by raising over $21K back in November.
The movie is heavily shot at Master Ballet Academy in Scottsdale Arizona, and features many of the talented dancers from the academy, including the MBA director Slawomir Wozniak, who is also one of the executive producers of the film.
"On Pointe" won Best Feature Screenplay at the Chandler International Film Festival last fall. It's produced by Tati's husband, Anthony Vogt, who comes from a ballet background -- both of his parents were former professional ballet dancers and currently own a ballet academy in Minnesota.
The release date for the film has yet to be confirmed, but here's a little teaser from the film's first official trailer.
