WOD Season 1 Finale | And The Winner Is...
Find out who won season one of World of Dance and took home the million dollar cash prize and title of Worlds Best Dance Act.
The season one finale of NBC's "World of Dance" was on Tuesday night, and spoiler alert, we are about to tell you who took home the grand prize of $1 million and the title of World's Best Dance Act.
The finale episode saw the top three acts from three different divisions (Upper, Team, and Junior) battle it out for the No. 1 spot. In the first round of competition, finalists danced to music picked for them by the judges, and in the second round they danced to the music of their choice.
Dancing to Kygo's "Stole the Show," Les Twins kicked the night off with a captivating performance that judge Jennifer Lopez described as, "a great start to an awesome finale." Les Twins scored a 93 out of 100 points.
Next, the group Swing Latino performed "Conga" by Miami Sound Machine and showcased their heart-stopping moves of athleticism and pure insanity. How they do some of those tricks while on beat -- and in heels -- is a mind-blowing mystery. Their round one performance earned them a respectable 91.7 points.
Last to perform in round one from the Junior category was the incredibly flexible and talented Eva Igo. Dancing to an "In the Air Tonight" cover by Natalie Taylor, the 14-year-old Igo earned the lowest score of round one, 90 points.
Igo got a second chance to show the judges what she was really made of, as she kicked of the second round dancing to Sia's "Alive." She delivered a powerful performance that awed the judges and earned her an astonishing and well-deserved 96.3 points.
Swing Latino went second and danced to DLG's "Quimbara." Along with their infectious energy, Swing Latino's choreography was on fire and their costumes were on point. Although they performed fiercely, their score of 94.7 wasn't enough to beat Evo's overall score, thus placing Swing Latino out of the competition.
The show wrapped up with one final performance from Les Twins. The Persian brothers danced to Michael Jackson's "Scream," an iconic song choice that earned the duo a score of 94.7 and a final average of 93.8, earning them the title of Worlds Best Dance Act and $1 million. I can't say I disagree with the judges' decision. Well done, fellas!
What a great first season of NBC's "World of Dance." The show had incredible ratings throughout the season and we look forward to its return.
